My Soul To Take  is the story of a young Princeton dropout, Harry Lowe, who, in slightly more than a year, goes from an airline copilot in Chicago to a political assassin in the middle of the Nigerian civil war.  Harry flies old airliners on the Biafra run.  An ancient, radial-engined Lockheed Constellation is stuffed full of guns, ammo and  relief supplies, and he captains it from Lisbon into a makeshift airstrip inside Biafra.  After the death of his friend and copilot in Africa, Harry is taken into the war zone for treatment at a Red Cross facility.  There he finds Sara, a volunteer from England.  He also finds a group of Swedish mercenaries flying Saab MFI-9's, a small, one-hundred horsepower civilian airplane converted to guerrilla flying with the addition of hard points under the wings that would support rocket launchers.  Harry flies on several raids with the Swedes until, after a brutal airstrike on the Red Cross encampment, he is tricked by the C.I.A. into going to Lagos to kill a genocidal Nigerian leader.
Harry is alive in a world that is meticulously researched and historically accurate.  The story is rich with aviation, loves won and lost, pathos  and psychological drama.  The  historical overview of Biafra, the secessionist country that fought a devastating civil war against Nigeria in the late sixties, is contemporary with today’s headlines.  Islam, oil and super-powers were all at play.  The strife in Africa is long-running and varies little from war to war.  My Soul to Take would appeal to the readers of Robert Stone, Philip Caputo and other writers of war, aviation and political intrigue.

I have four other books started, one of which is a fictionalized autobiography, using Goat Rope as the basis.  It was originally intended as such, but due to certain statutes of limitations and my need for ongoing employment, I had to put it out as fiction.  I can give a thumbnail sketch of each project to any agent who wants to work with me, and will finish the projects in the order the agent thinks most marketable.
